Tis the Saison

Tonight we are sipping Saison de Lente by The Bruery.  It has a light hazy golden color (it's not  as amber in color as it appears in the top photo).  It has a lemony nose, and it tastes fresh, crisp, light to medium bodied, with lemon, orange, clove, and honey tones.  Not overly spicy or sweet, probably great on a summer day.  It is lightly hopped, and brewed with Brettanomyces, which is apparently considered a contaminant in many beers, but in Belgian Ales, it is used to give a sour/tarty flavor (in Stouts, this is done with lactic acid and malt).  This beer has a nice tall head, extra bubbly, not as creamy as a stout head.  I have noticed that all my beer glasses are filmy, which is gross, but also can destroy your head.  I promise, I will wash my glasses by hand with extra hot water.
